Captain America: Civil War

Is Marvel hitting another one out of the park? It would seem so but let us dive into this film and see how it comes out on the other side. This film is without a doubt visually stunning and the story is beautiful. If you are reading other reviews, you might have seen some Marvel Fans upset because this is not the Civil War story line from the original comic run. I do not mind that this was a loose shell of that story or they just used the name and that is for one reason and one reason only. This was a great story line and it made sense within the world that they have established.

They open up with a bang with the New Avengers that were added to the team last time we saw them (Age of Ultron) in some great action shots. You see some of the new equipment and the main plot of this film is set up nicely. These action shots are shown throughout the whole film and some of the best fight scenes occur once the team is divided. The script for this film is great and it is a driving force on its own. But placed with these visuals, it is a grand slam.

However, the best part of this film is the introduction of Black Panther and Spiderman. The casting choices for these characters are Chadwick Boseman and Tom Holland. They were the best part of this film. I would give the performance edge to Holland because it is the Spiderman we have been waiting for! It gives you so much excitement for the future use of both these characters. Although I like these characters and their introduction in this film, it is beginning to irritate me that each one of these films is just building for a future film and unable to stand on its own. This will definitely hurt the re-watch ability of film. They need to pull back just a little to make this film stand on its own just like Winter Solider. A great film on its own and set up the future really well.

In summary, this film will be highly enjoyable for you if you have spent the countless hours with the films that came before and these characters. If you are just diving into this world or coming back from a break you will be lost in the story.Β  Civil War is directed beautifully and is a must see good time in the theater. Cinema Wise gives Captain America: Civil War a 3.75 out of 5.
