Well, James Gunn has done it again. We have gotten more of what we loved in the first film. The characters that we have learned to love were more flushed out in this sequel. There was a little more comedy peppered in to this one, but it was wonderfully used.
They pick up answering some questions that had been circling in our minds after the first movie. They continued to develop all of the previous characters while at the same time making sure that they introduced new characters. I feel that this film did a great job of spreading around the screen time and we got to see each character going through their own journey.
The underlining plot points in this film are fantastic. They reach out to one character then associates or connects to another character making the storyline very well rounded. While the film is mostly based around finding out Star-Lords linage, the twists and turns are what really bind these characters together. It was great to get a deep look into the motivations of each one of these characters. The team is expanding and is molding throughout this film so it never feels stale.
The comedy is well placed in the film. Most of the comedy comes from Drax and his awkwardness. Then we get the cute factor from the lovable Baby Groot who stole the show every time he was on screen. The action sequences in the film are stunning to watch with all the bright colors, graphics and the music: it all went together nicely.
