Thor Ragnarok

It’s time for the third installment for the Thor series. The Thor series has been underwhelming up to this point but after all of the marketing I have seen, it seems they have brought new life into this franchise. They brought it all together in this film! Think of them having a melting pot and adding ½ comedy, ¼ action and ¼ buddy cop film in space. It might sound like it doesn’t work but the tone and way the film is paced it just flows and keeps you entertained from start to finish.

Chris Hemsworth has been a standout in this franchise as the titled role of Thor only to be rivaled by Tom Hiddleston as Loki. The on screen chemistry is a driving point of the franchise and is only built upon in it his film. The buddy cop aspect comes from Thor’s interactions with the Hulk. While it is a minor plot point, it is a good use of comedic relief and at other points is used to drive this film forward.

It is no secrecy as of late that I have felt that the Marvel movies have been merely set ups to future movies. I am glad to see that they have stepped away from this with this film and were able to have this movie stand on its own and serve the purpose of the film. But then, it has a small end credit scene to drive the extended universe.

This film is a great stand alone adventure while driving the overall story forward. The comedic relief is used properly. This film is great for multiple viewings and is worth the ticket price to see it in theaters. Cinema Wise gives Thor Ragnarok a 3.75 out of 5.
