Ready Player one was a film that I was trying to avoid seeing very much advertisement for as I wanted to go in with a no expectation or knowledge of the story. It was the first film in a long time that was a pure movie experience. I have not been able to do this for a film since I was young having either read the book or comic for so many of the recent films prior to seeing them on the big screen.
For me this was the right move because it let me fall into this world. I was being shown things that I have grown up with and loved through my years. I am happy to say that this film blew me away. The film will be enjoyable for everyone, but has that little bit extra for fans of pop culture. The film had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish immersed in a great story that brought together a quest film with a love story and some mystery along the way.
Tye Sheridan carries the film in all the ways you want out of a young star, while Olivia Cooke is a strong leading lady and a joy to watch on screen. Their chemistry is undeniable and drive home these characters and their interactions.
Ready Player One is a must see for pop culture, Gamers and Movie fans alike. Cinema Wise give ready player one a 4.5 out of 5. A must see in theaters for multiple views.
