Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Welcome back to the magical wizarding world! This film must extend the world some and get more in depth into the characters that were first introduced. The additions in cast are one that should propel this film in a positive way.

As someone who grew up with the Harry Potter story, I was more than willing to jump back into the world as long as there was a great story to be told.

We pick up shortly after the events of the first film and we start off with a fast pace. The film seems to take you on a roller coaster throughout the whole film. This seems to not just happen in the pacing of the film but also within the actions we see coming from our characters as well as some of the emotional moments that we experience. The story unfolds nicely but towards the end leaves me with more questions than I started with. This may be due to my prior knowledge from the books and my fandom looking to connect the dots.

The film is beautifully shot and has some great special effects work. The new creatures that we see are interesting and expand the world nicely but at the same time are sometimes very convenient plot points. With the additions of Johnny Depp and Jude Law to the cast, this film is well rounded with some great actors and actresses. For me, the story of Grindelwald and Dumbledore is the driving force of this film series, and the rest are just sub plot points. It will be great to see how they wrap it all up in the series. There are also a ton of great Easter eggs throughout  the film and for real fans of the series are highly enjoyable.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is a beautiful installment to this film franchise but may leave one with many questions leading into the next film. It will be worth many viewings, a must see in the theaters. Cinema Wise gives Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald a 3.5 out of 5.
