Lately I have been disappointed in most of the films I have been seeing. That is not the case with Peanut Butter Falcon. This is a great film. It is such a simple story that drives the film along at a great pace and keeps your interest the entire time. In addition, it makes you fall in love with these characters and keeps pulling at your heart at every turn.
This film shows that Shia Labeouf is a high caliber actor. I really hope he continues to pick more projects and roles like this because it shows that he can lead. Dakota Johnson was good in the film. She served her purpose in the story. I would like to see her in more roles and see what type of range she has. This film rides heavily on the chemistry of Shia Labeouf and newcomer Zack Gottsagen. Their relationship throughout the film takes many twists and turns and evolves into something beautiful. Gottsagen does an outstanding job and makes the audience fall in love with his character.
The film seems to have a grainy look to it but because of the story being told and the adventure you are being taken on I believe this only immerses you into the film even more. The film will make you laugh out loud at times but will also pull on your heart strings multiple times before the credits roll.
The Peanut Butter Falcon is one of the best films I have seen this year. It is heartfelt, funny and just a great heartwarming movie. This film will be worth the ticket in the theater and is worth multiple viewings. This film should have gotten a wider release in my opinion and should be getting more attention. Cinema Wise gives The Peanut Butter Falcon a 4 out of 5.
